The pump impeller generates suction on the water through rotational motion, drawing the liquid (typically water) into the pump from the inlet. Subsequently, the liquid is propelled through other components of the pump, such as pipes and valves, and directed to the outlet.

When your pump impeller dealing with media containing solid particles, is susceptible to wear and damage on the impeller surface due to the impact and friction of these particles. Additionally, corrosive media can corrode the surface of the impeller, eventually leading to thinning and a loss of strength.

Generally, when you notice abnormal noises or a decrease in water intake with your pump, it is advisable to promptly replace the pump impeller. The impeller lock screw is in the middle of the impeller. It’s important to remember this is a left-hand threaded screw which means you turn it clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten
